Jesus was ask, "Lord how is it that You will manifest Yourself
to us, and not to the world?"
And Jesus said...
"If you love Me, you will keep My word; and My Father will
love you, and We will come to you and make Our home with
you." John 14:22-23
This is the Lord's revelation of that secret and precious
communion which you who love Him and keep His words
alone know; it was known to His saints of old; the secret of
the Lord is with them that fear and love Him, and He will
show them His covenant.
When Jesus declares, "My Father will love you, and we will
come unto you, and make our home with you," I have been
penetrated to my inmost heart with a new revelation of the
power and presence of my Lord.
Light of light, very God of God! It is this which makes possible
this manifestation of Christ to us His people.
Our Lord's name is Wonderful, Counseller, the Mighty God, the
everlasting Father, Prince of Peace; and when He comes to visit
the heart of one of His children, though there is neither word
nor sign, nor outward manifestation such as the world can
recognize, His still small voice enters as no other voice could
do, and his disciple knows full well that "it is the Lord!"
It is at this point we know that we know that we know God is
with us. We know His presence. We know His love. We
know His peace.
O that we would listen more to His secret teachings!
We listen to much and value to much what men speak
and think and write and do. We listen to little to what
our Lord says to us, and has written to us, and who
teaches us like Him? No one.
You who have once known such communion can never
forget it, nor cease to long for it, for it is the truest life
and deepest joy, tasted here on earth, in earnest of a
full enjoyment in heaven, such as the heart of man
cannot conceive.
And I pray...
Abide with me from morning to evening,
for without You I cannot live!
Abide with me from dusk to dawn,
for without You I dare not die!
Jesus, may all that is You flow into me
and may Your love overflow through me
into the world.
How may I glorify You today?
